In 2015, while attending the postgraduate course in Interdisciplinary Printmaking in Wroclaw, Poland, I had the chance to work on a public art project, based on the advertising poster concept and its artistic reinterpretation.

Being interested in vintage dance music, I didn’t need much time to discover the most hidden and unconfessable secret of the Poles, that kind of music that is considered very uncool and deplorable by most of the people living in the big cities, but secretly loved in all the villages and at the wedding parties, that is Disco Polo.
It is relevant to note that when Disco Polo was born, in the beginning of the 90’s, it has been influenced by Italo Disco of italian origin which at that time was still having a lot of success in Poland.
Imagining a new, improbable reboot of this musical genre I decided to launch the N.W.D.P. project: New Wave of Disco Polo, trying the impossible task of making cool and hip something that it is in fact the totally opposite. Showing  unlikely products (beautiful trendy t-shirts) and surreal claims (“Disco Polo has never been so cool” or “Back to the 90’s with the sound of the 80’s”) the posters banter with a famous fashion brand and twist the original meaning creating a parody of the fashion world, at the same time bringing to light something that is the farthest thing to what  is considered chic and socially accepted.
N.W.D.P. project has also received green light from the director of “Disco Polo” movie Maciek Bochniak, that premiered in the same period (spring 2015).
